PT SKY Aviation, based in Jakarta Indonesia, will start operations with initially 3 Fokker 50 aircraft in the first quarter of 2011. The aircraft will be used to service regional networks in Sumatra as well as for charter operations for oil and gas companies. The choice for the Fokker 50 underscores the economic competitiveness the Fokker 50 offers for connecting regional towns to hubs and for resource charter operations throughout South-East Asia.

PT SKY Aviation’s Fokker 50 operation will be fully supported by Fokker Services with the FLYFokker Take Off solution for which an agreement was signed earlier today between both parties. This Take Off solution includes the comprehensive logistic ABACUS program: On-site leased stock, Rotable Exchange Services and CMRO. But also engineering services are included: Continued Airworthiness Service Agreement (CASA), Documentation Revision Services and a Customized Maintenance Program. As such, it will enable PT SKY Aviation to serve its customers with the highest levels of aircraft reliability.

Krisman Tarigan, CEO of PT SKY Aviation: “We selected the Fokker 50 aircraft as we consider it to be the optimal aircraft for our operations throughout our network in Indonesia because of its proven safety record, sturdiness and high reliability”.

“This represents a next step in the roll out of the FLYFokker program which we launched just over a year ago”, says Erik Goedhart, VP Marketing & Sales Fokker Services. “Since the launch of this program many new operators have started flying Fokker aircraft as a cost effective and reliable solution to meet their requirements. We are very pleased with the choice PT SKY Aviation made to start flying the Fokker 50 aircraft and we expect more new operators to start flying Fokker aircraft in South East Asia. Currently, over 100 Fokker aircraft fly with operators throughout South-East Asia”.

A total of 208 dependable Fokker 50’s were built until 1997 by the Fokker Aircraft Company. Dutch certification was obtained in 1987 and the FAA Type Certificate was issued in 1989. The aircraft is currently in service with operators on all five continents. The total operating experience is over 6 million landings.
