Embraer has begun delivering its recently certified Phenom 300 executive jet, just one year after the first Phenom 100 customers received their aircraft. The first Phenom 300 was delivered at the Company’s headquarters, on December 29, 2009, to Executive Flight Services, a wholly owned aircraft management subsidiary of Executive AirShare, which received the aircraft on behalf of an undisclosed customer.
“As the first FAA Part 135 operator to take delivery of the Phenom 300, Executive Flight
Services will be managing an aircraft that has met all design specifications and improved on
its targets, in terms of runway take-off length, range, speed, and landing distance, making it
the ideal tool for corporate use in this category,” said Ernest Edwards, Embraer Vice
President, Marketing and Sales, USA, Mexico and the Caribbean – Executive Jets.
“The Embraer delivery team has attended to every detail to ensure a smooth delivery of this
aircraft,” said Keith D. Plumb, President and Chief Operating Officer, Executive AirShare.
“As the world’s leading operator of Phenom 100 aircraft, we have been extremely pleased
with the performance and low direct operating costs of this entry level jet, and hold similarly
high expectations for the Phenom 300.”
In preparation for entering service, Embraer CAE Training Services (ECTS), based in Dallas,
Texas, successfully qualified four Phenom 300 customer pilots, in December 2009, to operate
the new Embraer Phenom 300 jet. Due to the level of commonality between the Phenom
aircraft models, and because all pilots had previously obtained their Phenom 100 type ratings,
only a transition course for the Phenom 300 was required.

Forty-five Phenom 100s are in service, today, and Phenom 300 deliveries will begin soon
Phenom 300 – Program Status
The light jet is in the final certification phase, with over 1,000 flight hours accumulated. The test fleet is comprised of five pre-series aircraft – two with full instrumentation, two with partial instrumentation and parts of the interior, and one with complete interior for function and reliability tests.
The first aircraft (PP-XVI) has finished crosswind takeoff and landing, flutter and high-speed tests. Having concluded natural ice conditions tests, the airframe is currently being evaluated under simulated icing conditions. The power plant, fuel, air management, brake, electrical, and hydraulic systems tests were concluded by the second pre-series Phenom 300 (PP-XVJ). The autopilot and high altitude takeoff and landing performance were also evaluated by this aircraft.
The third pre-series aircraft (PP-XVK) has completed all of the runway performance tests and is currently finishing avionics trials.
High Intensity Radiated Field (HIRF), lightning, cold soak and external noise testing have been concluded by the fourth pre-series jet (PP-XVL). The airplane was also used to validate the maintenance plan, as well as to evaluate internal noise/thermal comfort and perform smoke/emergency evacuation tests. The fifth pre-series aircraft (PP-XVM) joined the certification campaign last August. It wasthe first to be configured with a complete interior, featuring berthable seats and a drop-down ceiling monitor. The jet was exhibited at the Latin American Business Aviation Conference and Exposition (LABACE), in São Paulo, Brazil, and is confirmed for NBAA 2009, in Orlando, Florida, U.S., October 20-22. Function and reliability tests are currently underway to evaluate such important features as single-point refueling, externally serviced lavatory (unique in the category), and low cabin altitude.
Besides the five aircraft in the flight test campaign, ground-based structural tests are also advancing. Bird strike and wing ultimate load tests were finished. Fatigue tests have been completed, including 1,000 cycles required for wing-fuselage certification, confirming that the Phenom 300 is a robust and reliable platform. As recently acknowledged by the trade media, the Phenom 300’s price, cabin, performance, and fuel efficiency make it a serious contender in the light jet segment.
Phenom 100 – Program Status
The entry level jet went into operation in December 2008. To date, the aircraft has logged over 3,000 flight hours, with a total of 45 aircraft delivered, worldwide, as of September 30, 2009. Although enjoying great acceptance and success, Embraer continues improving the Phenom 100 to meet the challenging and dynamic business jet market. Throughout 2009, Embraer worked on developments that further enhance customer satisfaction. To increase interior comfort, new and stylish cabin seats were designed, offering ergonomically improved cushions, greater aisle width, plus retractable armrests. The seats will become a standard item, and existing operators will be able to retrofit their aircraft under special commercial conditions. A cabin divider was developed, providing passengers with a real lavatory door, as an option to substitute the current curtains. This increases privacy and also helps to improve cabin noise levels. A new In-Flight Entertainment (IFE) system includes such features as XM radio, ambient sound system, capability for passengers to listen to Air Traffic Control (ATC) communications in the cabin, an interface for portable media players, and a VIP panel that allows cabin temperature regulation.
EMBRAER’S PHENOM 100 JET RECEIVES AUSTRALIAN TYPE CERTIFICATE
August 17, 2009 by Marcel van Leeuwen · Leave a Comment
São José dos Campos, August 16, 2009
Embraer’s Phenom 100 entry level executive jet received the type certificate, last July, from Australia’s Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA). This certification joins the Phenom 100’s approval by Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC) and the U.S.’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), in December 2008, and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), in April 2009.
“It is with great satisfaction that we announce the certification of this outstanding aircraft,
reinforcing Embraer’s commitment to the Australian market,” said José Eduardo Costas, Embraer
Vice President, Marketing and Sales, Asia Pacific – Executive Jets. “Our customers will have the
convenience of being able to register their Phenom 100s in Australia.”
Back in 2005, Embraer promised to design and build a revolutionary jet with premium comfort,
outstanding performance, docile flying qualities, and low operating cost. Those goals were
relentlessly pursued and the Phenom 100 not only met all original specification targets, but also
surpassed several performance goals, including a maximum cruising speed of 390 knots (True
Air Speed – KTAS), 10 knots faster than promised, and fuel consumption up to 3.6% better
than initial estimates. External noise levels present a 33 EPNdB (Effective Perceived Noise in
Decibels) margin over the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) stage IV
requirements.
The long interval between scheduled maintenance – 600 FH (Flight Hours) or 12
months – gives the Phenom 100 a substantial advantage over competitors by requiring only five
scheduled maintenance stops in five years. Takeoff and climb performance is also better than
expected. The baggage compartment that was the largest in the category became even larger,
gaining 8 cubic feet (227 liters), from 45 cubic feet (1,274 liters) to 53 cubic feet (1,501 liters).
Currently, more than 800 aircraft from the Phenom family, which also includes the Phenom 300
light jet, are on order, worldwide.

EMBRAER MAKES THE FIRST DELIVERY OF THE PHENOM 100 EXECUTIVE JET
January 4, 2009 by Marcel van Leeuwen · Leave a Comment

São José dos Campos, December 31, 2008
Embraer announces that it made the first delivery of the Phenom 100 jet, on December 24, in São José dos Campos. The aircraft, which landed today in the U.S. after successfully completing its ferry flight, was recently certified by Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency (Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil- ANAC) and by the U.S. Federal Aviation
Administration (FAA).
“What an exciting day! This is what we have been working towards, since May 2005, when we launched the Phenom 100,” said Luís Carlos Affonso, Embraer Executive Vice President, Executive Jets. “It is truly an honor to deliver
the first Phenom 100 to Jim and Betsy Frost, who have been with us since day one, not only as customers, but also as invaluable contributors on the program advisory board.”
James and Elizabeth Frost, the first Phenom 100 customers, live in Houston, Texas, where Mrs. Frost runs a family partnership in real estate and mineral holdings and Mr. Frost manages new business projects. Mr. Frost has been flying since the age of 16, and Mrs. Frost, who began flying in the mountains of Colorado, is a Certified Flight Instructor and has logged several thousand hours over the last 15 years.
“The Phenom 100 is fast, easy and fun to fly. I had the most fun in years while flying it during training in Texas and while in Brazil,” said Elizabeth Frost. “We wanted a plane with which we could entertain our family and friends on quick trips between Houston and Colorado as well as to other destinations, and with plenty of baggage space. The Prodigy avionics system is really easy to operate and very friendly, always providing full situational awareness.”
“The Phenom 100 is fabulous! The high degree of automation makes it a great single-pilot jet and, as an owner/operator, I think I am already spoiled by the amazing cockpit,” said James Frost. “The Phenom 100 completes our normal mission using less fuel and in much less time than the turboprop it is replacing. We are looking forward to realizing the benefits of the advanced digital design of the aircraft in lower maintenance costs and less down time.”
Following the success of the Legacy 600, the Phenom 100 entry level jet was launched in 2005, along with the Phenom 300 light jet, confirming Embraer’s commitment to the business aviation market. In 2006, the Company introduced the Lineage 1000 ultra-large jet, which has been certified, and its deliveries will begin in early 2009. In 2008, the Legacy 500 and the Legacy 450 were launched in the midsize and midlight categories, and are scheduled to enter service in 2012 and 2013, respectively.
The design, development, certification, and first delivery of the Phenom 100 took just over three-and-a-half years, which is a distinctive achievement in the industry. Brazilian certification was granted by the National Civil Aviation Authority (Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil – ANAC), on December 9, 2008. Embraer also received ANAC’s
certification (CHE) to produce the Phenom 100. EASA certification is expected for the second quarter of 2009.
A second Phenom 100 aircraft was delivered on December 29, in São José dos Campos, Brazil.
