Bell Aircraft Corporation P-39 Airacobra

Zap16.com entered a new fact sheet to it’s list, The Bell P-39 Airacobra.
The P-39 was a special WW II fighter who had his engine placed in the middel of it’s airframe. Also it featured a nose-cannon which came out in the middle of the propeller. There were some 9000 P-39’s built most of them (about 4000) P-39Q’s like the one on the above picture. The Photo was taken at Duxford airfield in the UK last September 2007 by M. van Leeuwen.

The zap16.com team decided to end the zap16.com aviation blog to give more attention to their new website aviationnews.eu that offers worldwide aviation news from various sources.
The ‘old’ aviation blog holds some 154 posts starting last April, and will stay online for an undetermined period of time.
