At this airshow, the Belgian Air Force showed her capabilities to the public at Kleine Brogel.  A realistic but fictional scenario based on a crisis situation as it could happen in Afghanistan was played. Belgian F-16s, supported by NATO helicopter, tanker and AWACS planes demonstrated their operational capabilities.
This demonstration was be commented live to provide the spectators a better insight on the use of the Belgian Air Force expertise in operations of NATO.

A NATO E-3 Sentry also participated from its homebase at Geilenkirchen. These aircraft are used to detect aircraft at great distances and lead the intercept by friendly aircraft. These aircraft are used intensively at NATO’s borders.
