Bell Aircraft Corporation P-39 Airacobra

Zap16.com entered a new fact sheet to it’s list, The Bell P-39 Airacobra.

The P-39 was a special WW II fighter who had his engine placed in the middel of it’s airframe. Also it featured a nose-cannon which came out in the middle of the propeller. There were some 9000 P-39′s built most of them (about 4000) P-39Q’s like the one on the above picture. The Photo was taken at Duxford airfield in the UK last September 2007 by M. van Leeuwen.
