Emirates praises Airbus A380 despite delays

Emirates‘ chief said the troubled Airbus A380 jetliner will be a “superb aircraft” and remains committed to the plane. Emirates President Tim Clark urged Airbus to overhaul management of the A380 program. Airbus recently announced production delays.

Boeing: Future of C-17 production remains uncertain

 

Officials at Boeing say a possible new order for C-17 jetliners is not enough to justify keeping the company’s Long Beach, Calif., plant open. The House approved funding for three more planes for the Air Force; the Senate has not yet passed funding.

A380 delays disrupt French parliament

The A380 production delays led to a disruption in the French parliament Tuesday. Socialist party members stormed out of the National Assembly amid arguments over the A380. Some members are calling for the resignation of Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin.

International Lease may cancel A380 order

 

International Lease Finance is considering canceling an order for 10 Airbus A380 superjumbo jets. The order is worth $3 billion. Airbus recently said it would delay delivering the plane because of problems related to wiring.

NASA selects female pilot to lead shuttle mission

NASA has selected shuttle pilot Pam Melroy to command the Atlantis mission scheduled for next year. Melroy will be the second woman to command a U.S. space mission. The shuttle will carry the Italian Node 2 module.

Long Island bids farewell to F-14
